Triple WErD Score

I’m already regretting the title of this post but I’ve got nothing better. Just to clarify I am purposely spelling “word” incorrectly (with an “E” instead of an “O”) so that WED (as in, what i wed) can stand out…
My latest idea for the upcoming nuptials (date planned for August 4, 2012) are table markers in the style of Scrabble tiles. It’s cute, quirky and relevant (Joe purposed with a Scrabble board). Bonus! Thanks to the internet I can buy these suckers instead of failing miserably at creating them myself…but that doesn’t mean I won’t try.

coloring. fun for all ages.
one of the many traits i’ve inherited from my mom is her incredible indecisiveness. that said, the location of the wedding has once again shifted. we’re going to do a “garden wedding.” that’s the delicate way of cutting the budget in half by throwing it at my mom’s place. this suits me. it’s not that i’m averse to traditional elegance. rest assured, it will be a classy affair indeed. but more casually elegant. it will likely take place in late july or august so i’m fine with khaki shorts we’ll draw the line only at leather. i’m really digging this idea. i’ve never been comfortable with the idea of my mom shelling out a bunch of cash for one event that will fly by- i’d rather she spend it on herself. but i do want an occasion to celebrate our marriage and make it all official. i am finally at ease and ready to lay down some actual dates. so this is a perfect compromise and weather willing will be a super fun and hopefully a relaxed party for all to enjoy.
ok, so now onto my latest idea that i want to publish before i forget about it. i love love love how at macaroni grill they give you crayons and the table is covered with paper and you can color. fun fact: joe and i went there for our first valentine’s day together. i found a picture from someone’s wedding (see below) where they had the same deal going on (presumably just for the kids table). i want it on all the tables.

i need to clean up my desktop so here are the pics littering my comp awaiting re-publication via my blog :

stumbled upon this one via wedding gawker. supes cute! my friend jenn recently made a rainbow cake for her fam at easter…i was intrigued and impressed with the results. putting the whole thing into a jar reminds me of playing with colored sand in art class. it’s pretty!

Westin Detroit Book Cadillac Hotel
In case you are not hip to the Westin Book Cadillac in Downtown Detroit…It’s a rare Detroit gem. The historical building underwent a $2million renovation for the 21st century. It’s super swank but not stuffy and has all the dreamlike splendor of a traditional Westin.

thinking…westin detroit book cadillac hotel in march 2012. funfact: joe proposed there in february 2010. so now…i need to pick colors which i’m thinking pink and yellow…also interested in a muted blue (we’ll see-check out the cupcakes).
i want to keep the colors nice and light for the early spring/easter season. flowers are super cute and easy to do in pink and yellow it’s the bridesmaid dresses that i’m stuck on. the gals probably won’t want yellow (it’s a hard color to wear) and pink is ok. i like blue though. i’m getting geeked. joe will just be getting home end of feb/beginning march so it’ll be kind of a welcome home+wedding fest then we’ll take off for a lovely (much needed for joe) vacation/honeymoon. and we’ll start our first year of marriage together…that was very carefully worded. (/second year of marriage).
Shoes
In Michigan (for my imaginary readers outside of the state) there isn’t a whole lot to do other than hit the mall or movies. The trouble with the mall is that it’s the same ol’ thing from mall to mall. We do have Somerset Mall in Troy however. It offers 2 sides. There’s the regular side (aka the new side) which houses the standard mall fare: (though slightly upscale with henri bendel) forever 21, victoria secret, abercrombie…blah blah blah. The fun thing is that when you go out later you’ll be able to guess the location where all the gals in town purchased their duds…BUT then there’s the ritzy side of Somerset. Literally separated by a highway you cross over into a new world. Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue are the flag stores and then I found Kate Spade. It’s not that I’ve never heard of Kate Spade, or any other designers, or that I was unaware higher fashion existed, it was more that I didn’t believe they were available so close to home. Though, for the most part still unattainable, a girl can dream. But I’ve gotten away from my point entirely: Kate Spade. These shoes (pictured, Lourdes by Kate Spade) are super cute, clearly. If not worn with my wedding dress they could certainly be used for the rehearsal dinner. They retail for about $265. Expensive for a girl from Waterford, sure, but like my mom always says…well there’s no specific phrase used but the general idea is that sometimes if you love it, you should buy it. Especially if you will wear the heck of it. I’m not sure i’d have the opportunity to wear the heck out of these but I would certainly like to try. Also on my wishlist is this bag (check it below). I’m going out on a limb and asking for it for my birthday. Eventually I plan to be able to afford to make these purchases as needed…not excessively but according to my mother’s personal philosophy.
